Terms of Service

Effective date: March 1, 2026

Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Mailens, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

Service Changes

Mailens is under active development. Features may change, be added, or be removed as we improve the service. We strive for reliability and will communicate significant changes when possible.

The Service

Mailens provides email addresses and email management for Lens Protocol users. Each Lens account receives a handle@mailens.xyz email address. The service includes:

  • Inbox management with starring, archiving, and trash
  • Rich text email composition with CC/BCC support
  • Email threading and conversation views
  • Undo send (5-second window after sending)
  • Full-text search across your mailbox (Cmd+K)
  • Contacts / Address Book with autocomplete
  • Auto-saved drafts
  • Spam filtering (SPF, DKIM, DNSBL verification + content heuristics)
  • Public profile pages at mailens.xyz/handle
  • Browser push notifications (optional)
  • Customization — themes, fonts, sounds, sidebar order

Accounts

  • You must have a valid Lens Protocol account to use Mailens.
  • Authentication is performed via wallet signature verification or Orb login (QR code / deep link via the Lens Orb mobile app). You are responsible for the security of your wallet and Orb session.
  • Your Mailens email address is derived from your Lens handle and cannot be customized independently.
  • One Mailens account per Lens profile.

Acceptable Use

You agree not to use Mailens to:

  • Send spam, bulk unsolicited emails, or phishing messages
  • Distribute malware, viruses, or other harmful content
  • Impersonate others or misrepresent your identity
  • Violate any applicable laws or regulations
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to Mailens systems or other users' accounts
  • Use the service to harass, threaten, or abuse others

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

Rate Limits

To protect the service from abuse, API requests are rate limited. Current limits:

  • Authentication endpoints — 10 requests per minute per IP address
  • Email sending — 5 requests per minute
  • Write operations (trash, contacts, drafts) — 30 requests per minute
  • Read operations — 120 requests per minute

Requests exceeding these limits will receive a 429 Too Many Requests response with a Retry-After header indicating when you may retry.

Your Content

You retain ownership of all content you send through Mailens. By using the service, you grant us a limited license to store, process, and transmit your emails as necessary to provide the service. We do not claim ownership of your emails or attachments.

Attachments & Storage

  • Attachments are stored on Grove (Lens Protocol's decentralized storage). Once uploaded, files are immutable and publicly accessible via their URL.
  • Maximum file size: 125 MB per attachment.
  • Maximum total size per outbound email: 40 MB.
  • Do not upload illegal, harmful, or rights-infringing content.

Trash & Data Retention

  • Trashed emails are automatically and permanently deleted after 30 days.
  • You can use “Empty Trash” to immediately and permanently delete all trashed emails.
  • Drafts persist until you send the email or manually delete the draft.
  • Once data is permanently deleted, it cannot be recovered.

Service Availability

We aim to keep Mailens available at all times but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. We may perform maintenance, updates, or modifications that temporarily affect availability. We will do our best to notify users of planned maintenance in advance.

Disclaimers

Mailens is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

Mailens should not be relied upon as your sole email provider for critical, legal, or time-sensitive communications. We recommend maintaining an alternative email address for important correspondence.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Mailens and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of the service.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of Mailens after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
